Real world images of Google's Pixel 3 smartphone have leaked revealing that indeed the Pixel 3XL's little sister will be notch free.

Quote

Today’s leak reveals the 5.5-inch display will have a resolution of 2160x1080 and 2:1 aspect ratio. The battery capacity is said to be 2,915mAh. According to screenshots that came from the phone, the two front-facing cameras are each 8-megapixel sensors. One has an aperture of f/1.8, the other f/2.2; it’s believed that Google is taking this two-camera approach to allow for wide-angle shots — and maybe a more secure face authentication feature, but there’s still no hard evidence of that.

Specs look good, how do they compare to the previous generation?

Quote

Google is expected to hold the Pixel 3 launch event on October 9th in New York City. Aside from Google’s own Project Fi, Verizon will reportedly remain the exclusive US carrier of both phones.

The pictures from the original post on Reddit are below:

The Pixel 3 appears to be miniaturised version of the Pixel 2XL, which I for one am happy about, who needs a notch anyway?

That 2,915mAh seems pretty tiny compared to even the mid range smartphones these days. How is that supposed to last a flagship phone for the entire day?

I still want one tho

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Probably because stock Android has less trash than what OEMs shove in?

I like the look of this a lot more then the XL version. Can't wait to see what the camera performance is like, since that's really the only thing Pixels have going for them.

Battery wasn't full, so I imagine it's closer to 3000mah. Plus, variances. It'll last a day easily with proper optimization and the efficiency of newer chips.

Honestly all these leaks are doing is convincing me to make the switch to iPhone. Android used to be much more consumer friendly, with swappable batteries, expandable storage etc on most phones. The headphone jack was still a thing and phones seemed like they were designed to meet what consumers actually want, at a much lower price than iPhone. Now most flagships just seem to copy each other, steadily removing features as time goes on all while prices endlessly rise. I'm getting sick of it.

Go look at Samsung phones. They still have headphone jacks, micro sd slots and no notch copying for a push of under the screen techs then :)

The Pixel line doesn't even use 'stock' Android. Google add quite a few features to stock Android for the Pixel devices such as the Pixel Launcher and real time music detection (which must kill the battery life)

I still don’t quite get Google’s plan with the Pixel’s hardware and philosophy.

It certainly has its merits like fast updates and especially that camera software which still continues to impress. But is this Google’s take on an Android phone or are they just following trends for the sake of it?

Like the Pixel 2 not having a headphone jack (despite mocking Apple for it with its predecessor) and the presence of a gigantic notch while leaving a significant chin bar for a speaker.

At the rate this is going the non-XL seems to be the way to go.... Especially if it's priced at $650 or $700.

Because of the smaller size that this phone has, that's actually quite normal. E.g. Galaxy s9 has a 3000 mah battery, which is only slightly larger.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Or this:

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Except they haven't really succeeded in that.

Pixels are popular with those who know what close-to-stock Android is and those who want fast updates. The iPhone customer base will either stick with their iPhones or go to Samsung

Never said it was a success.

Also, Pixels aren't really stock android, they're close to stock and have no bloat like stock.

Now that the Android One program exists, the unique selling point of a Pixel device is somewhat gone.

I don't know.. it still looks like a nice device. Pretty much the screen size of my Pixel XL in a MUCH smaller phone. I like that.

But I wouldnt fork over a price premium for it personally, phone prices have gotten out of control. I bought my Pixel XL used, and my next phone would probably not be over $500.

I remember Lollipop ruined a crapton of Android phones. Turned a Note 4 into shite alongside the Nexus 6 and most Android phones.

I can't seem to go a day without an article where an update for a Pixel breaks something fundamental.
