PSU for GTX 1070, and Later Upgrade to 1080ti

MasonK

Well, I’m a step closer to finally building my gaming/productivity PC. I’ve finalized most of the components except for the PSU as I’m unaware of how important they are, and what the certifications truly represent, if anything at all important to the overall performance.

I would aim for a Corsair CX650M (grey label) or an EVGA Supernova G3 750W.

Basically anything Tier 3 and higher on here is a good option:

Sure the G3 may be "fine", but the minor issues (and overly aggressive fan curve) is easily avoided on other units.

Fair point. I should burn that into my brain, I keep forgetting about the fan curve...

A Corsair TX550M would be fine for that system, even with overclocking. Alternatives would be a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold, EVGA G2/G3, Antec HCG Gold, Bitfenix Whisper/Formula Gold, Corsair RMx, etc.

You shouldn't buy a sff psu for that build. I don't even think the case properly supports sff PSUs. The RMx would be a better choice for your system if you wanted to stick with Corsair.

After reading everyone’s advice, I chose the Corsair RMX 650W. Also, I had originally chose that PSU with a much larger case, until I realized a mid-tower was a more feasible idea.
