How is it connected? If it's a USB 3.0 drive, you'll need to connect it to a USB 3.0 port as it can supply more power. It could also just be a dead harddrive. Test on another computer as well.

If the drive is connected via USB, try connecting it internally to motherboard. If this method fails to work, probably it is dead, you can test it with disk test tools like CrystalDiskInfo, HD Tune, or diagnostic tool from the manufacturer.

yes it is a USB 3.0  drive and yes  I connected it to a USB 3.0 port. Also I tested it on multiple computers, and it is all the same.

Then either the drive is defective or the USB controller board. Take the drive out of the enclosure to see if it uses a USB/SATA bridge/converter or whether the USB controller is built-in.

Try using a 3rd party partition software program and see what that can do.

Failing that it sounds like the Filesystem is corrupted and needs repair.

Hello BABAlu,

What is your external hard drive model number? And did you connect the drive to another device, I don't know a T.V or something... If so, did you format the unit on that particular device?
