The Lightning 350D - [BUILD UPDATE 4/3/14]

avenge_peach

Beautiful build and all....but

DAFUQ?!?!?!

YOU OVERCLOCKED YOUR MONITOR TO 120Hz FROM 60Hz????

Sure did. The Korean 1440p IPS monitors are known for their overclock abilities.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hehe, good thing this got bumped, I was ill when it was originally posted

and missed it.

It really is a properly nice rig, and your gf knows how to make it shine

as it should in the pics, very nice indeed. thumb.gif

Yeah, Builds of the Week are in transition for the time being, but I have

been assured they will be back (though it might be a while). But that doesn't

necessarily mean you won't get featured methinks (mehopes?). ;)

Good the hear! If it does end up on the WAN show is there any advance notice given?  There was some discussion in the livestream about having the builders available for questions, etc.

Since I don't know what the new format will look like I can't say, but

in the old format there was no advance notice (although if you weren't

watching live somebody would usually post a response to your build

congratulating on the win, so you'd know fairly quickly).

I also recall discussions about the community being more involved in

the process, which might mean voting, and assuming the voting is public

you'd probably know pretty much ASAP (unless the community votes, then

a jury makes their choices among the builds with the most votes... there's

tons of ways obviously ;)).

But yeah, we'll just have to wait and see (and hope it doesn't take too

long to get BOTW back, it is the one part of the show I'm consistently

interested in).

Isn't the SP fans best for the CPU cooler, and the AF fans for Airflow? Atleast that's what I've learned and done myself. You have the quite opposite :P

This is absolutely true.  I made some performance concessions due to the X60's 280mm radiator and since Corsair only makes 140mm AF series fans.  I have some 120mm SP fans ready to install on the rad but the Bitspower 140mm to 120mm fan adapters I bought are too tall by like 5mm in order to clear the CPU power connector on the mobo.  I will have to make an adaptor plate of some kind.

Wow, very very clean build and its also different to most other builds in a good way, like the m-ATX format and good choice of components.

Did you sleve the cables or have somone do it? If you did it, how did you get it so you cant see any heatshrink?

The rings come with the Corsair fans.  I spray-painted them yellow.

Love the color scheme!

Me too xD Would look even better!

Nice pictures too, very professional.

No MPower mATX board.  Trust me, I wanted to.

I sleeved the cables myself using the heat-shrinkless method.  Check out Lutro0 Customs website.  I followed the video guides almost 100% to get the process down.
