I have very inconsistent frame rates on some of the games I play, I have an amd phenom II x6 1090t black edition cpu, 24gb ddr3 ram, gtx 1050 gpu. I just wanna know if this issue could be a resultant of the cpu bottlenecking the graphics card. If so what is a substitute solution of the purchase of new hardware. When I say inconsistent, I'll spike from 80-90 fps down to high 20s-40s. I mainly play dead by daylight but this is concurrent with the majority of the other games I play. I'm not very experienced or knowledged with computers so I thought this could be a helpful resource.

Cpu - amd phenom II x6 1090t

Gpu - Nvidia gtx 1050 2gb

Memory - 24gb DDR3

Motherboard - GA-78LMT-USB3 R2

Monitor Native Resolution - 1368x788

Ironically if everything is slow then your system isn't bottlenecked :P

that is true, however a 3600 isn't slow! 👀

Even a 1070 "bottlenecks" it...!

And probably 1080 too...

you likely need a 3080 for it even remotely become a bottleneck (not counting poorly optimized games that only use 1 or 2 cores as nobody should play them anyways!)

Man, this topic... there will always be some bottlenecks precisely because not every game / application has the same demands... :)

Hi guys i have a 6700k 4.0.ghz 6 gen and a 3070
should that bottleneck?
on a site it says it only does 13% bottleneck ( over 10% is bottleneck ) says the site. But i only have 80-100 fps in call of duty modern warfare in 1080p. I can read that it can be the game and i needed to follow some fixes so it maybe can work with over 120 fps atleast. Can someone help me pls maybe i need a new cpu?  :)))

In my case the CPU has headroom for a significantly more powerful GPU.

It will bottleneck in some newer games, but it should perform great in most games at 1440p or 4K resolutions.

okay thank you for fast answer! :) I find out that my gpu usage under full load going down to 50-60% usage in most games. I run with PCIe x 16 3.0 bus so it is not that. I only have a 1080p monitor in the moment, can it maybe help to get a 1440p or 4k?

Here you can see i have all on ultra settings in gta and benchmark it, low gpu usage.

Call of duty with opscalling to 4k (render resolution 200)  i can get usage to be normal, but in 1080p it goes under 60% again and have same fps as 4k around 80-90 like in 1080p

i have try in warhammer to and it is max 60% usage again :)

I think I'm GPU bottlenecked using an Ryzen 5 3600 and a 7-year-old GTX 650 Ti Boost.

It will definitely help leverage the potential of your GPU,expect the FPS to stay the same (and in 4K it could be lower in some games) with higher resolutions.

I also recommend overclocking to at least 4.8GHz.

And close as much background programs as you can before playing.

Everyone hates bottlenecks. It’s a common question on our forums to ask whether a part will be a bottleneck… But what does a bottleneck even look like, and how can you avoid one?

I wanna pair i5 12th gen with 1650, i don't have the budget for a better graphics card. i can lower my processor for a better gpu but i am thinking of going up in processor right now and in future i can upgrade my GPU ( like RTX 3060 or something like that)

This built will bottleneck but is it something i can live by?

I wanna play games on medium settings and do some coding and editing. So is it smart to do this kinda thing or not?

What to know if my rig is bottlenecked too much.

I have an i7 8565U cpu in laptop and planning to have rtx 2060S or RX 6600 for egpu.

The settings I play some tittles like Valorant, CSgo, Genshin Impact at 1080p High settings especially want Genshin to always be at 60fps.

Is my cpu bottlenecking my gpu? or should i have a stronger gpu to run these games

Hope to get an answer and please don't my poor English ?

This is probably a better question for the Graphics Cards subforum.
