Howitz

Can i install windows 10 via usb and use it without a key still? or did they remove that? i remember we could do it be they would disable some functions and stuff.

if we can, what would be the best way to do it? create media on usb? i have a usb key i can use.

Yes, you can still use Windows 10 even without a product-key and yes, it'll still disable a lot of the customization-options.

Got an old windows 7 laptop? The key from it should work on windows 10. That's what I do to activate my machines.

You can just install off USB and it'll work, it'll eventually bug you about a key though.

Yes, Windows has had 30-day free trial since XP, maybe even earlier. After trial ends, you get limited unactivated version until valid key is entered.

What do you mean by limited? So far i installed it and i see "activate windows" in grey on the bottom right of the screen. It will get more limited over time?

You loose personalization features. Mainly setting desktop background. And it will continue showing watermark and other reminders that you have unactivated copy. But it will remain otherwise usable. Not be totally locked like it was with XP or Vista.
