The most logical way to part with my GTX 770?

I see. Do you think my 4690k is going to be a limiting factor when paired with a 980 or 980Ti?

You know these extra questions are the reason I suggested getting drunk and then shopping.

Based on age alone no as I have no other knowledge to conclude much else. Also with my 4440 I was running Crossfire with rx470's with no apparent bottleneck. Fourth gen Intel was 2014? The 980 Ti was last to come out in that lineup in June 2015 so I believe your CPU would pair greatly.

Yeah pretty much. I suppose that is good to hear. I'm gonna eye a few listings for 980's and 980Ti's and see what I can pick one up for.

As long as you're not trying to stream to twitch or whatever while playing you should be fine. CPU intensive games may suffer a little bit, but for the most part you should be okay.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

That is kind of a deceiving statement to make because I don't believe streaming and recording are the same.  Also Level1Techs have even shown the 8700k struggling to stream without tweaks and optimizations.

Yeah I'm not too worried. I don't stream at all but I record often and I can do it fine with less intensive games, if anything just turn down settings a little bit.

I've been meaning to replace my GTX 770 for quite some time now and I've been searching around for used cards that I know can do very well in 1080p situations like the 780 and 780Ti. I only mention these cards because I know how they perform in reference to my current card and I'm really out of the loop as to how new cards stack up as well as what is and what is not worth spending money on because I haven't kept up with PC hardware related news for quite some time. Odds are, I would end up selling my GTX 770 for whatever I can get for it and just put it towards any new/used card.

Anyone mind guiding me through this one? Thank you in advance :)

Edit: Completely forgot the 10xx cards were a thing already, would the 970 or 980 be a sizeable upgrade?

Wait till next month when they announce new cards then pick up GTX 10 series for good discount.

Luckily my Hybrid 1070 I have posted on eBay just sold. I was afraid I was going to have to reduce the price.
