3 mobile (UK) are pretty screwed up with their pricing

Bhav

My last contract with them was unlimited mins and texts, and 30 Gb data both on phone and tethering for just £16 pm via existing customer offers, and if I hadn't wanted data they also had unlimited mins and texts with 4 Gb and no tethering for around £10 pm.

So I had a look through their existing customer offers again, art first glance it wasn't any better:

- Same tariff as my previous one was £17pm

- Unlimited mins, texts, 12 Gb no tethering £14

- Unlimited data but still with 30 Gb tether limit £31pm (normal price £34pm).

I remembered that there was always a bolt on available to me for £5 a month more to add ayce data, so that would make it £21 for the same as the £30+ pm tariff, but I only needed the 30 Gb tether which wouldn't be increased on any higher plans.

However after logging into my account online and checking upgrades / renewals, the were offering the ayce everything plan to me for just £19pm, with the 30 Gb tether limit o.O.

So I clicked on that and accepted, and already knowing about using PDA net to bypass tether caps, but only currently being limited with a windows mobile cos normally I don't care for apps and that app still not being available for Windows mobile as most things, I ordered a moto E4 for just £80, and since its from Amazon prime I can just send it back if for whatever reason I can't get PDA net to bypass my 30 Gb tether cap.

If this works I won't need separate broadband after my first house is ready (very soon), and I'll be paying just £19pm for unlimited calls, texts and 4G tethering.

I honestly have no idea how anyone can get through 100 Gb+ just on their mobile anyway, and I used to unlimited tethering on 3 until they scrapped it after 4G came out because 'oh noez, its too fast to allow unlimited downloads on PC' ... Like what difference does it make off I was somehow using 100 Gb a month on my phone or my PC?

Well I just checked Three's website and they still offer mobile broadband. As they probably want you to buy that, instead of paying for sim deal, getting unlimited data and then using tethering, that is probably why they impose a cap on it .

You should check German prices for mobile internet because we are pretty screwed. I would happily accept any of these tariffs.

Hmmmm, after accepting the £19 pm upgrade, it showed up fine on my online account.

Today the pricing switched to £32, so now I have to call them and rant and get my unlimited everything for the £19 that was offered (I screenshotted the offer).

However Im getting fully unlimited tethering on my PC using PDA net, my hotspot allowance isnt reducing and after a bit of fiddling I'm getting 20 Mbit down / 5 Mbit up which is comparable to the UK's fibre optic, and that normally costs a bit more without any phone allowances.

Initially I was only getting 5-10 Mbit down and 1.5 up so it seemed meh but decent for the price, then I realized that my phone had defaulted to 3G signal and after manually swithing it to 4G its flying super fast.

If for any reason they refuse the £19 offer (dont think they legally can because thats what they advertised and I already purchased it on a 12 month contract), then I can still revert to my previous £16 pm one, and add unlimited data to it for £5 pm so its still only £21. 4 hours until their phone lines open at 9am on a Sunday to sort it out though.

Still I wouldnt bother paying double to go from 30 Gb to unlimited if its only applicable to the phone, in the case that they find out I'm blocking tether detection and cancel it.

I would have rather reduced it to 4-12 Gb and kept the minutes and texts, and gotten normal fibre instead, but this would still cost £30-40 pm so I'm taking the risk of hiding tethered use as long as I get to keep this offer for £19 or even £21 pm.

Wowie, unlimited this and mins and texts hopefully for £19:
