Absolutely true. However, the biggest thing that he mentions at the start is that, unlike many other companies, users of Apple are usually more forgiving and don't blame them. If another company did the same thing, the user would likely not like it and stop doing business with them.

To give a personal example, my Girlfriend got a nice Acer laptop with an i5 processor and a GT940M. It worked well, however, it ran out of battery once and the boot device suddenly want missing. After reinstalling the OS, the system did not want to recognize the keyboard and touchpad and it couldn't install any drivers.

We sent it in under warranty and they fixed it, however, when we got it back, the touchpad was lifted off the base and barely functioned, as well as multiple keys on the right side of the keyboard not working.

 

We were unable to talk with warranty support since it was out of warranty. After many frustrated calls, we called Acer Headquarters in California and they directed us to the call and repair center in Texas. We were able to send it back in, however, we got it back the same way. After contacting again, we were able to get a replacement that was twice the price, an i7 processor model with a GTX950M. 

I can guarantee that if something like that happened with Apple, they would fix it for an exorbitant price (because you probably wouldn't be under their warranty) and they would call it quits after the first time.

I would be inclined to agree until I saw the bit about "repairing" the gpu with a piece of rubber to press it down to the board. If that is the official fix and not just a one-off from a lazy employee that wound up with Rossman, it would be rather laughable.

This is the kind of treatment you get when you are a company that has a record as good as Apples for customer support. 

 

Louis likes to say that companies try to copy "all the bad things" that Apple does in terms of designing hardware and do none of the things that Apple does when it comes to support and services. People buy Apple in spite of their flaws because they have earned that business.

Yeah things like the iPhone 6 bending causing connection problems and the screen failing is a problem I would say is not something to brush off.

It's the "you're holding it wrong" argument all over again - placing the blame for Apple's QA shortcomings on the user. If it isn't designed to be used as a phone, it's a bad phone, period.

Well, the Huawei Honor 6x is apparently prone to bending as well, though there aren't nearly as many out in the wild.

It affected users, and its not a one off thing. It's continual and Apple is all too keen to pretend its not even happening. lets reference the video in this post for that.

 

Apple for the most part does software well, if you like them holding your hand and telling you no to any sort of personalization anyway. Well, They were doing well software wise til these last couple years that is. Hardware they almost always have bad designs. Looks good, but structurally and usability wise they are absolutely awful with a few exceptions.

 

Also, I have never had a good experience with apple support. a month after I bought an ipod touch 4 the home button fell out, somehow thats apparently not covered in the warranty. So, I would completely discount that. To be honest most people buy Apple products because android OEMs are retarded and cant support a phone for more than a year and people cant seem to wrap their heads around an LG android phone is different from a Samsung android phone, so when one has a problem, everyone associates it with every android phone. And basically everyone here can agree windows phones were a burning pile of..

Fanboys are the worst thing to happen to the tech community World. Chief among them are Apple fanboys.

Macs are better at being laptops for work of all kinds. Specifically editing video and music production and other arts and are also better for general use. macOS is significantly more reliable in my experience than Windows 10 and you actually get to control when you want to update, if you want to update at all. 

 

If you want to game, then build a PC. Or do what I did and build a PC for gaming and buy a Mac for mobile computing.

Well you don't have to update so........

 

With Microsoft you get no control and with an Android device you just never get an update.
