power supply is overkill for your needs.  your cpu and gpu combined maybe put out 130w.  u can get a less fancy one

16gb ram won't boost gaming performance meaningfully (compared to 8)

save money on these and get a 1050 ti (or a 1060 3gb)

PC Build: R5-1600.  Scythe Mugen 5.  GTX 1060.  120 GB SSD.  1 TB HDD.  FDD Mini C.  8 GB RAM (3000 MHz).  Be Quiet Pure Wings 2.  Capstone-550.  Deepcool 350 RGB.

Peripherals: Qisan Magicforce (80%) w/ Gateron Blues.  Razer Naga Chroma.  Lenovo 24" 1440p IPS.  PS4 Controller.

Audio: Focusrite (Solo, 2nd), SM57, Triton Fethead, AKG c214, Sennheiser HD598's, ATH-M50x, AKG K240, Novation Launchkey

Wishlist: MP S-87, iPad, Yamaha HS5's, more storage

psu is overkill, take money from that and get a 1050ti

also look into ryzen options

if possible an ssd for boot drive would be a nice addition, but that goes for any cpu.

I haven't kept up on it but see if there is an intel+ on the 8100 that includes an optane cache drive

edit:

@minervx is right, 16gb is overkill for gaming on this rig.  You need a specific reason to go with that much ram

8100 is not kaby lake, double check your supplier

It works. Depends on games if he’d need better specs but should be fine if you drop down settings.

Monster of a 720p gaming pc but meh-ok 1080 imo

find the cheaper mid-range graphics card for ur money and save up for it.

in any event it seems like your build list focuses on all the parts except the ones that actually improve game performance

PC Build: R5-1600.  Scythe Mugen 5.  GTX 1060.  120 GB SSD.  1 TB HDD.  FDD Mini C.  8 GB RAM (3000 MHz).  Be Quiet Pure Wings 2.  Capstone-550.  Deepcool 350 RGB.

What's your budget/country?

More than likely just buy an R3 2200G system until GPU prices are better or new GPUs are out. It'll be alright for 1080p gaming.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

What did you mean with meh-ok?, fpo.

Quote me.

I mean it’s probably going to do low to medium at best with the low video memory.

Hes going to be fine with valve games but Witcher might be a bit harder. I’d say go for 4gb 1050 TI or better on NVIDIA side for 1080 p gaming. You can play fallout 4 at ultra settings but it can dip to 40 fps or 35 from my experience.
