Will a Y splitter work on my mobo's fan header?

robrulz123

Hello all,

I am planning to buy two Coolermaster Sickleflow X's (red led) and a Y splitter as I only have one chassis fan header available. To my knowledge, each of these fans draw 0.35 amps and in total thats .70 amps right? So will my motherboard (Asrock H81M-HDS R2.0) be able to sustain .70 amps from the one chassis fan header through a splitter?

(I just want to make sure I don't fry my motherboard)

Thank you.

The manual for you MB doesn't specify this, but I've not heard of a fan header with less than 1A in any modern motherboard. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Yes, that's fine. That being said, Sickleflows aren't great and I wouldn't recommend them unless you only want cheap led fans. They're either noisy at high rpm or don't perform well at low rpm.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
