Gtx 480 running hot

Audherbagn

I just bought a gtx 480 on account of it “running hot”, which I just assumed was the gtx 480 being itself. Turned out it was a bit more than that.

Brings back memories of getting my first burn due to touching a GPU (Brother had a GTX 480).

I'm sure that dust is well baked on there.

That's not just a colony, that is a full blown metropolis.

Thats probably what my PC looks like, because I stuck it in a rosewill server case in a rack in my room and haven't touched for like a year and a half

Running hot was a feature of that card. It kept my feet toasty warm through a couple of very cold winters.

This looks extremely familiar . I got a Gtx 480 in a old workstation that was being thrown out by some workplace . I cleaned it out and it's looked extremely similar to yours . Full birds nest lol

thats not really fair, as meat is supposed to be cooked at 70 degrees and I measured the heat sink on top to be at 75 degrees. It would actually burn meat

just clean it out, set up a good custom fan curve with MSI ABB, and add 150mhz to the core with 1.075mv and it will be a GTX 580 essentially.

In this rare instance the load temp was probably the idle temp.

Gotta love the GTX 480.
