Posted February 13, 2018 I currently have a PC with a Pentium G4560, 8gb of RAM, a GTX 970 and 1.5tb of storage, but definitely see some stutter in newer titles from CPU & RAM load. I have around £150 at the moment, but soon will get 50-150 more. My current ideas are - Playstation 4 - Most of my friends are on PS4, and I also would like to try some of the exclusive titles ~ £200. - A nintendo switch - A bit expensive but I love the system and what I have played of BotW, also the PC ports like doom and skyrim would be brilliant on the go. -A new CPU, probably an i5 8400, but that would need a new motherboard so perhaps a cheap Sky/Kaby i5 (or even i7). If i got a nice CPU, I would see gains in some games, but in many games I wouldn't benefit that much without a new Monitor -Speaking of , A new monitor - I have space on my desk, and hit 120 FPS on many esports titles, so a 120hz monitor would be nice finally - a mediocre old laptop to play older/less demanding games on the go - Elder Scrolls games, TF2,RTS like AOE2, etc Any ideas, I'm awful at making my own decisions Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/896183-what-to-buy/ Share on other sites
 The £200 would be for a PS4 and R6 siege (used). I would also play fortnite, which doesnt require a PSN Subscription Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/896183-what-to-buy/#findComment-11041793 Share on other sites
 Here's my idea, upgrade the CPU and when you get the rest of your money get a new monitor as well, something like this one "AOC 27 inch 1 ms Response Time LED Monitor, Display Port, HDMI, DVI, VGA, Vesa Q2778VQE" which is for sale on Amazon at about £150. Friends are replaceable... You'll find news ones online. If they want to play with you they can come over to the PCMR... We're better in every way, unless you want to buy a GPU right now that is I'd upgrade the CPU if it's causing bottlenecks, tho should be known you might need to upgrade your ram too, so keep that in mind. 4 hours ago, Canada EH said: because OP already has the mobo and ram for it Don't gen 8's need a new board?
