i5 better than i7?

The page shows the i7 3770K as being the stronger CPU.

The i5 has a higher "Score" because it is better bang for the buck with the prices the site was able to pull.  Those prices aren't terribly accurate since they're such old processors.  The performance details however show the i7 is stronger.

If you're wondering which is better, go to a site and read specific comparative reviews.

Also...why would an i5 be better than an i7, when the i7 has a higher clock? The answer should have been obvious...

the 3770k is WAY better, i remember thinking to myself "i wish i got ivy bridge instead"

 

the max oc of a 2500k/2600k is around 4.8/4.9ghz while the later 3770k chips can go 5.0+, not to mention better ipc, pci-e 3.0 vs the 2.0 on the 2500k

not totally true, my 2500k did 5.2k ( and granted nicer temps cause soldered )

my 2600k however only does 4.6ghz and is hot as balls.

5.2 is legendary. i had a 4.9 2600k and a 4.4 (?????), i guess if i had to push the 4.9 i coulda gotten 5.0, that thing was 60C load in the summer @ 4.9.

ya, sold it to some guy in india for like 480 usd too lol, was good time over all, picked up the 2600k for like 260, and upgraded my gpu :P

though on op's topic, one thing you might find weird is that the i5 8600k (8th gen i5) has the same performance as the i7 8700k frame for frame in gaming being nearly 100 dollars cheaper, though still loses in the productivity and rendering tasks of course ( 6 extra threads is cheating )
