Thick or Thin Laptops?

Hello! I’m here to ask do you prefer a thin laptop with not much weight to it, even though thermals won’t be great, or do you prefer a thicker laptop with more specs and better cooling?

Personally I prefer thick laptops with more stuff inside of them.

Who needs fancy graphics and high resolutions when you can get a 60 FPS frame rate on iGPUs?

Anything 3/4" - 1 1/4" is fair game for me. Anything thinner or thicker feels weird to me when holding it in hand while on the move.

Same opinion as OP Bigger and better.

Main PC = I5 7600K @4.5ghz, Asus Gtx1070, 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz, 480GB SSD, Msi Z270 Mobo.

Personally 1.5 inches is that sweet spot for me.

I personally prefer thin, light, and decent battery.

My current laptop is 8gb ram, high end i7 cpu, and integrated graphics. If I'm gaming or something, I have a desktop for that.

My laptop is my travel computer obviously that I use for demoing shots from photoshoots for the models to pick out what they want deleted and such. Use it for general web browsing and very light gaming if I'm at a hotel or out and about (car has wifi built in).

I rarely go out with a laptop they stay home docked and plugged in. So weight and thickness is no factor really.

Depends on what it's for, but generally I don't care about thickness nearly as much as I do about weight. I have a thinkpad x220 and it's relatively thick, at least compared to what is considered thin nowadays, but it's about as light as much thinner laptops with similar specs (and in exchange I get better cooling, a non-undervolted cpu and a larger battery). If game performance was a concern I'd look for some compromise between a 6kg portable desktop with 5 minutes of battery life and an overheating macbook lookalike.

I'd probably take a bigger one. As long as I can carry it around it's light enough.

I've been using laptops since 2004 and every new has been thinner than last. But overall its usability first, portability second. Which means I don't see any point in current 15.4" laptops with full keyboard. I would gladly take that bigger screen with good keyboard since they have space for it. And since 13.3" is too mall for me, I'm with 14" now. As long as its not over 2kg, its fine for me.

Never really cared about thick or thin. As long as it has the features I want, and doesn't look ugly to me, then I'm all for it.

Same with weight; I've never understood people calling laptops heavy. They give you computing power and fit into a bag. How does it being 4 lbs vs. 8 lbs make it all that different? If 4 lbs is making a difference in your carrying it in a bag or from surface to surface, then there might be more wrong than the weight of the laptop.

I would prefer the thin and lights. There are models where the thinness has compromised usefulness/performance and/or comforts/usability.
