I7 8700 ~~ 80/90°C while playing// Go for NDH15?

I finally decided to go for the i7 8700 instead of the I5 8400. The problems is that I already had the cryorig c7 from my previous setup (I5 3570k without any issues).

While idle I get about 40c with the fan at 70/80%.

Playing games such as BF1 and Rainbow six I get around 80-90°C.

Next week I will travel to USA. Should I take the opportunity to buy Corsair H100i v2, or the temps are good enough not to do anything?

definitely need to lower those temps. Since you are buying it while travelling, you may be better off getting an air cooler for the fact of less chance of failure.  I would recommend you get the Cryorig H7

I would either get that AIO or upgrade to a Cryorig H7, which is only $30.

But I know Corsair has a good warranty, and traveling will have no effect on it.

So... AIO or H7?

Plus I don't like too much the look of the big air coolers.

If you can have no issues with warranty or anything that can happen and the travel distance/time of needing to do an RMA if the pump fails or something, then get the AIO. But ultimately I think the H7 will do nearly as good of a job as the AIO in my experience.

I have a H100i v2, and after a year the pump stopped working. So now I'm on my old air cooler until RMA is done. That means, if the pump does die for whatever reason, you'll be left with a poor air cooler for your machine. I'd you get a water cooler, make sure you have an air backup handy just in case.

 

I'm surprised my Cool Master Hyper D92 actually cools a Ryzen 1700x pretty well.

 

So, be prepared just in case.

I always have the stock fan in case this happen... But let's hope I don't ever need it.

According to princess ponycorn you only need a cheep cooling solution for that cpu

I've reconsidered going with an AIO, beacuse it's more probable to fault than a regular air cooler.

I will go for Noctua DH15, is better than H7?

Is a good cooler compare to the H100i v2?

 

I have 44mm tall RAM but i read on noctua's page that you can put the 2nd cooler a little bit upper in order to fit any ram. However I have the 2nd and 4th slot covered, so i think it will not be neccessary to do that.

Just undervolt your cpu it will help a lot. In my case it's ~ 20C lower temperature.

80-90C is fine, remember to undervolt ur cpu, u only need 1.2v, stock can be 1.3 or likely 1.4, no point getting anything fancy for a locked cpu

Apart from that, I want to have a cooler in case I need my cpu at 100%.

Playing games with 30% and 80°C. I can't imagine going for 100%.

i'm gonna guess the cpu is running at 1.4v instead of 1.2, just go into the bios and fix that

 

been seeing people with messed up stock settings on the z370 boards, whats ur motherboard.
