How old are you? If you cant drink then you are under 21, so then a coffee date is a good starter.

Any ethnicities between you and her, or cultural things?

Start with the coffee shop, do the chit chat back and forth for awhile, get a feel for her, then move in for home run.

I like opportunities to talk but coffee is too much of a risk here. and also i dont want to eat if possible because i just feel like when you try to eat and talk at the same time it just dosent work too well and you have to use eticitue

would a small meal go well together with something like mini golf or like ice cream afterwards or is that too much, i dont know if dinner its self would give enough time to get to know much.

Some people don't like dinner because if you don't like her, then you're kind of trapped. But dinner and then mini golf/ice skating and ice cream sounds like a great idea.

If you live in a country currently experiencing winter, I'd suggest taking her Skating. Many places will have outdoor rinks, but those that don't may have a "Community Ice Rink" indoors - usually there's a minimal fee, especially if you have to rent skates, but sometimes it's free (rentals are pretty much never free though).

Otherwise, just go to a coffee shop, order a drink, and chat.

Other ideas:

1. Pool (Billiards)

2. Mini-golf

3. Laser Tag

4. Walking your dog (if either of you have one)

5. Going to the park (Seriously, keep it public, well lit, during the day, and not sketchy)

And so on.

Mini-golf

Mini-Golf is perfect for a date. Fun, cheap and you get to spend time doing something together. Dinner can be a tad weird (no talking points) but because your golfing you can talk while playing, then go to dinner and have something to talk about. The same thing applies for movies!

Depends - some people don't want to spend that long (golfing/movie then dinner - that's like a 4+ hour commitment) on a first date. Especially if it's a bit awkward at first.

Mini-golf isn't bad, certainly, but it does depend on the person and their preferences. Aside from that, I can imagine there's only so much you can talk about mini-golf, after mini-golfing.

Movies can be good - especially if you're shy/antisocial and want to avoid having to make small talk for huge periods of time. But on the other hand, people dislike movies for that same reason - because you spend most of the time silent, while the movie is playing.

I'd suggest that on a first date, especially if younger, movie then coffee/tea/hot chocolate is better, since it won't take as long as dinner, it'll be cheaper, and if things turn south, it's easier to evac from.

While among other nerds, I'm often considered one of the more "outgoing" ones, I definitely lean towards introverted. Girls were scary when I was young. It was difficult to know what to talk about, especially if they weren't overtly nerdy in the same way I was.

So putting myself into a situation where I had to small talk for 2-3 hours was unnecessary agony.

Congrats on getting her number :P $50! That's a lot for a first date isn't it? I don't think I've ever spent that much on a first date.

Agreed about dinner. I'd suggest wandering around a mall, or an event outside. Here they have ice sculptures and such you can go look at. Mini golf is nice because it's inside so at least you'll be warm! Winter sucks for dates in places that are cold.

When's your date?

What exactly do you mean by home run?

I wouldn't go to a restaurant. I hate sitting down for first dates. I like being able to move around, have things to look at, instead of just staring at the other person across a table.

Ice cream in the winter?! You're a mad man! Mini golf is a good idea, as long as you're able to laugh at yourself.

Some people get way too competitive.

Interesting view...why would you be limited to talking about golf if you go golfing? Every date I've been on, anything was game to talk about.

Thinking you can only talk about the event at hand is awfully limiting.

I've only been on one movie date...a few months ago. It wasn't bad, but you can't really get to know someone during one. There's no conversation. That's why I've always avoided them. Generally you talk after, and really, if that's the case, you've simply wasted that 2 hours (in regards to the point of the date). If it's a first date I would never suggest it.

Movies aren't easy to evac from either ;)
