I'm looking for a nice 144Hz Display that is at least 24" and has decent image quality. My roomate recently got an AOC G2460PF and it's amazing to see 144Hz for the first time, but the color is absolutely atrocious. Does anyone know of a monitor in this price point with at least decent color. I'm not looking for IPS quality or anything, I know I won't get that, but something a little better would be great.

I just recently got the Dell Gaming S2417DG YNY1D for $300 on sale but right now it's like $350 on Amazon. I tried out a couple of other 144hz monitors but this is the only one that had good colors. It's almost as good as my IPS panel and just from looking at it, I would have no clue it is TN. All of the other monitors had worse colors than my $200 Chromebook.

I bought an MSI Optix G24C for $210 from Newegg, though they cost $250 now. It's 1080p, VA (great colors and viewing angles, comparable to IPS) and it has an 1800R curve. They aren't easily found anymore, but the MAG24C costs $232 and it uses the same panel. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824475006

I generally try to avoid MSI products, as I've had a terrible time with their customer support, it does look really good at a low price, though, I am considering it.

The G2460PF can actually produce quite good color, it just has terrible default settings and no way to address it properly through the onscreen controls. But if you have calibration equipment you can get a much nicer image out of it. This is the profile I use on mine, try having your roomate use it and see if it's any better:

Crossover - 27" 144Hz, Freesync IPS panel - $300. 10 bit panels with excellent color reproduction and image quality. Linus recently did a video on this monitor and Level1techs have been fans of the Crossover monitors for a while now too and do regular reviews of them.

Yes, they sell out fast, even faster after Linus spread the word. Usually though Dream-Seller on Ebay gets more stock in and the price comes back down. I've been buying Crossovers and Qnixes from him for several years now. It may take a while though.

The G2460PF has TERRIBLE colours. I have been tinkering with it since I got it without too much success, just acceptable. The main issue with the G2460PF is brightness. Even at 0 brightness the screen is brigther than the average monitor, and if you don’t have good room lightning it is really straining for your eyes.

A ViewSonic XG2401 is much better for a few more bucks (I own both monitors).

I own both monitors too. I was able to get a better image from the G2460PF than the XG2401. I use the G2460PF next to a 99% AdobeRGB IPS monitor right now, doesn't bother me.

Agreed that the brightness can't be lowered enough though.

I will try your settings as soon as I go back to where I have the monitor then. Hopefully it will be better!
