Planning to make a black/white setup

shadowr1ku

Hello forum! Haven't posted in a long while, but Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

So I wanted to do a complete overhaul on my set up and decided to do a black/white build. I have some items already but if you guys have a better suggestion I have time to return or exchange them.

Parts so far:

- Fractal Design Meshify C

- Corsair RGB RAM

- Seasonic Focus 750w

I already have a black mouse pad (PCMR XL) and soon to have a white keyboard/mouse combo.

I have been racking my brain on what I should do to make it a great Black/white build and the struggle between which should be a primary and secondary accent. Any suggestions including parts and accessories is greatly appreciated!

I'm extremely partial to a white with black build rather than majority black over white. A nice white case with a black interior paired with a white and black mobo with a white GPU always tickles my fancy. Add some RGB in that bad boy and I'm sold.

That's what I'm thinking about too. I wouldn't say it's unique, but definitely nice.

Oddly enough I am on the fence about going Ryzen just because of the 8700k, how does it stand up to it?

Ryzen is for multitasking. Like heavy-ish multitasking.

Coffee Lake is for solely gaming and light multitasking. They both do well for streaming.

I'm assuming it's for gaming. The 8700K will beat any Ryzen for that.

Not sure how you got the Seasonic Focus. That thing isn't out in the US, from what I can tell. The Focus Plus Gold and Platinum are out, did you mean one of those?

How about something like this? You could get a 250-500GB SSD and a HDD for a bit less than the 1TB SSD.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor  ($379.99 @ B&H)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H5 Ultimate 76.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($46.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus - Prime Z370-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($167.89 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Crucial - MX300 1.1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($237.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB STRIX GAMING Video Card  ($756.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $1589.74
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Edit: there's a white Gigabyte 1080 Ti for about the same price as the Strix. The cooler and PCB isn't as good as the Strix, but it's white, if you want that.

What White with black accent case do you recommend? Most of the cases that are new doesn't have an open front nowadays

Hard to find mostly white cases. The P400, S340 and RL06, maybe?

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).
