which pro console should I get

noahvt

Hi!

I’m going to switch from pc gaming to console gaming as my gaming laptop is broken and my new laptop doesn’t run games all too well.

I can’t decide which console I should get though, the PS4 pro or the Xbox One X. I am not going to play 4k on the console as I only have a 1080p tv, I’m getting one of these just for the better peformance (game I play the most is laggy one PS4 slim and Xbox One S).

I just want something that can run games like friday the 13th and gta V + a few recent titles like ACO at max settings at higher than 30fps. I don’t care much about the ui or usability of the console.

Since the PS4 pro is 150€ cheaper than the Xbox One X it really seems like a good deal but watching reviews showed me that the PS4 pro doesn’t perform all too wel.

Can anyone help me decide by giving arguments on why I should pick a specific console?

Xbox is objectively better.

PS4 is more likely to have your friends on it.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Pick whichever has the games you like and that your friends play. That's the only thing that sways my choice.

That, and I absolutely fucking hate the Sony controller.

Really? Wow.

I myself don't have any consoles but from what I've seen on the internet there's just been a bunch of people who got PS4s just because their friends were on it lol.

PS4 i'd say, your gaming PC situation may change in the future at which point in time you can play x-box games there but you'll always need a Playstation for titles like The Last of Us Part II etc.

I don't have either..

But like to stay informed somewhat... just in case.

Noticed that XBOX1X seems to get better 'enhancement' focus from Devs.. over PS4Pro titles.

Thats a big deal...even using 1080p panels, XB1X still delivers enhancements.

But go with where your friends & fav games are is usually the best advice...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

The PS4 Pro has a way better games library, especially if you like Japanese games. The XBox One X has a much better gpu and more RAM, so if you play western games primarily you're probably going to have a better gaming experience on the XBox One X. Expect 30 fps either way though.

The x-box 1 x has better hardware than the PS4 pro hands down, its not even up for debate.  Having said that though i stand by my earlier comment when i recommended the PS4 pro simply because in my opinion it has better exclusives and even if the exclusives were a wash when you compare the two you can always get the x-box games on PC later on but you'll always need a Playstation for their exclusives.

Just take a look at the games there are for the console.

And pick the console that has the most games you want to play.

IMO the XBox is rather pointless because lack of exclusives...

No its not because there ain't not much exclusives that are worth it.

Most of the games are also available for PC.

And the Hardware is IRRELEVANT, what counts is the games you can get for it.

As others have said, generally just pick the console that has the exclusives you prefer. If you're a huge Halo fan? Get the XBOX One X. If you really like Uncharted, get a PS4 Pro.

The XBOX One X is technically superior, as it has a modest CPU increase, and a substantial GPU increase over the PS4 Pro.

Additionally, the XBOX One X has a 4K UHD Blu-Ray player. That might not matter now, but eventually you may decide to get a 4K TV, and it would certainly be a bonus to be able to watch 4K UHD Blu-Ray movies without buying additional players/equipment.

Though I wouldn't give the performance difference top weight - just use that factor as a tie-breaker if you cannot decide between the two.

I thought I was the only one. Seriously, the Sony Controller is cancer to me. I personally find the XBOX One controller to be superior for my own personal use. I find it significantly more comfortable and intuitive - especially the position of the left joystick - I find the joystick positioning on the Sony controller to feel extremely unnatural.

Many others will prefer the reverse - but that's one reason I own an XBOX One S, and why I would never buy a PlayStation (Unless they redesigned their controller to copy the XBOX layout).

Definitely not alone, the hate is real. I've always thought the Microsoft controller was just a better design. Much more ergonomic. The Sony one I swear is only like that because that's the design they started with, and they'll be damned if they redesign it and show there's something better.

The PS4 controller is terrible. I have to charge that piece of shit after every 6 hours or so of gameplay. I don't have an XBone but man I love my 360 controller. I'll probably end up buying an XBox One controller for my PC though since my 11 year-old 360 controller isn't in such great shape any more.

But the PS4 Controller is cheaper and also comes with an integrated rechargable battery (you could replace if you wanted to), the XBox one Controller comes - like the 360 one - without rechargable batteries. So you are stuck with the usual AA Batteries you need to replace every once in a while, while you can recharge the PS4 Controller.

Granted the 1000mAh Battery is pretty weak and empties rather quickly...

But then again, you can also buy different 3rd party controllers for the PS4...

Or replace the battery...

For the XBox One Controller you have to buy the battery seperately...

Or use AA Batteries...

PS: For PC you have to buy the XBox controller anyway because many games don't work with the PS4 Controller. Some (of the newest ones) do, most do not.

The integrated rechargeable battery certainly is a benefit. But for me personally, the additional cost of an XBOX One contoller is worth the cost.

Plus, if you buy a set of good rechargeable AA’s, like Panasonic (formerly Sanyo) Eneloop’s, then there’s no need to buy the Play and Charge kit from Microsoft. Unfortunately you have to pull the batteries out to charge them, but you can just keep a set charged, and swap them while the other set charges.

Yeah I prefer using rechargeable batteries and don't use one of the charge kits with my 360 controller.

I recently got a PS4 Pro because it has much more games that I want to play like Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Detroit Become Human etc. Xbox really has nothing that interests me.

If I were to get a console I would obviously go for the PS4 because of the much better collection of exclusives.
