NCIX Stores Update

Last week I posted what has happening to NCIX's former Richmond Lansdowne location.

I sure hope that signage is just temporary... 

It looks like the carcases of two of NCIX's former locations (Richmond Lansdowne and Vancouver Broadway) has been taken up by it's (former) competitor in the East, Canada Computers and Electronics. Does anyone know if they do the same kind of sales as NCIX and whether or not they're a worthy replacement? I just bought a Cougar Control 2 XL from that location for 20 bucks for a secret santa gift, not a bad deal I think. At least compared to Amazon's prices.

Doesn't seem that bad from what I've been able to found. Probably can't compete with Micro Center too well but that's just me :)

NCIX's main website was finally taken offline today. Never bought anything from them because it was always more expensive than Newegg, Amazon, or Walmart (I say this because they do have some (not much) PC parts online and I have used my employee discount online before if it came out cheaper than other sites).

They had bigger sales at least in Canada because compared to Memory Express, it's closest competitor here, their prices were much better. You had pretty good items during the weekly sales and bundle deals were pretty good. Pretty much every component of my build that was bough in Canada, was from NCIX. I've bought countless Micro SD cards and USB drives on the cheap from them even outside of back to school or Christmas sales.

Actually its been great for canada computers, one of the reasons ncix did thier disastorous plunge into bankruptcy is jeaulosy of how well CC was doijg with retail

I actually liked shopping at NCIX. They were much better than Memory Express. But I guess their expansion to the East Coast ended up being a disastrous decision. If they just stuck to the West Coast, they probably would still be here.

I haven't been able to access them either. I keep getting error 502 (host error) so I'm guessing they're down as well.

Yea. It was probably Cloudflare cache on your region that didn't get updated or your web browser that took over, or a combination, but as you saw, it doesn't work.

Yeah I didn't realize they used cloudflare. I've never been to that site before on this PC, so that must have been it.

Pressing F to pay respects. 

 

I shop at CC only, ncix was a hassle and never had the parts I wanted to order in stock. I ordered $1,200 of parts from Ncix in the past only for them to suddenly be put on backorder. When I requested to cancel the order, they kept saying no until I threatened litigation.. Suddenly I became everyone's best friend. 

 

With CC, I just walk in, put the deposit down on what I want to order and usually it takes two to three days, but their online store is pretty great as well. They also have everything popular in stock, and if they don't it's usually a few hours to a day to get the pc part from another Canada Computers to 5ye one you shop at.

I guess it really depends where you live. I've never had an issue since I live so close to their stores. Just place order and walk in to pick up.

?!? Hmmm nooo.. I don't think so.I think he indeed meant "compatible motherboard". I mean, you never heard of SLI motherboards? Many people here do it. They connect a motherboard to the other motherboard PCI-E lane, and now you have twice the RAM, twice the CPU power, and even more PCI-E plugs to connect more motherboards. Now you are playing with power! SLI motherboard power!

I like shopping online as much as the next person but for some reason I really like the idea of just being able to walk to a store and buy a processor or something. I really only have a generic repair shop near me and a CeX.

 

Repair shop still has 16GBs of DDR4 for £65.
