2gb for 1080p is still good but not for 1440p. Bf4 multiplayer @ultra with 1080p was still 55fps on a 2gb 680.

it's all relative to your own personal needs/wants and setup....as it has always been

I'm on 1080p x3 nvidia surround - it's been dead to me. It's still plenty for single screen users

imo the question is really stupid. everyone's different

I have a GTX 680 DirectCU II OC and I game at 1600p.  I can definitely say we have passed the age of 2GB VRAM, but it is still perfectly ok for 1080p.

I only play at 1080p but I'm still getting a 290/x for performance and 4gb memory.

Why, modded Skyrim and Occulus Rift.

2 GB still serve a plenty lot to me since I always turn off AA because at the back of my head I always thought of it causing an input lag.

I was fine with my 2GB on my GTX 660 (I don't currently have a dedicated graphics card anymore :( ) But I do believe that in the future even 1080P will require at least 3GB, that's why my next upgrade is a 280X for the 3GB VRAM.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

  • 2 months later...

i'm still maxing games out with my GTX 570, which only has 1280MB of VRAM. good enough for at least 1080p 30fps.

though that doesn't mean i'm not thinking about getting an R9 290 or two in the future.
