High end is something like a GTX780 coupled with an FX-8350 or an i5-4670K to me.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

High end basically means it doesn't get much better without spending an absurd amount of money.

I would like to think my specs (in sig) are "high end".

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

For that is all I need, For the Emperor of Man, Jen-Hsun Huang, protects. We march for Nvidia, and we shall know no fear!

Mid i5/FX8xxx 280x/770 8GB ram

High i7 and 780/290 with 16GB ram
Enthusiast 2011 socket 780ti/290x or SLI/Xfire of mid range GPU's and up, 32GB Ram
also applies to current gen tech, typically whner a generation change I'd consider everything to drop a tier (except ram and extreme editions they stay in their slot for two gens) but with i5 I feel 2500k still stands in mid and 2600k is still a high
water-cooling is a variable that to me makes a mid range system a high end and a high end into a enthusiast

Gonna get some hate from the AMD boys here :P

I saw the specs and the first thing that comes to my mind is: Alienware prebuilt?

Anyway on topic: I have a quite high expectation for a High-end system so a High-end system too me would be something like this...

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2iCjx (For water-cooling you just remove the H100i and go hardcore WC, but I don´t know crap about it :( )

On a serious note is something like my system High-end in my opinion :)

Oh and the issues are actually not a issue it´s precautions ;)

Low end I would say an intel i3 (or the AMD counterpart) or below with a gt 640-gt650

Mid range I would consider an intel i5 (or the AMD counterpart) with a gtx 650ti or above to gtx 760/70

High end would be i5 or i7 coupled with a gtx770 or above with absurd amounts of RAM and an SSD

Obscenely High End would be i7 extreme with SLI top tier cards with unbelievable amounts of RAM, a massive storage array and a water cooling system. These one also typically double as space heaters.

Eww no! I played at an event on their mouse and board and liked it, so I bought them cheaply on the side :)

High-end AMD rigs are not the same as other manufacturers high-end.

But don't discredit performance. Just because it costs 2x more doesn't mean it is 2x better. If you're doin it right, everybody will be dancin.

I see a lot of responses list specific parts, and I don't believe that's the way to answer a question like this as it will be just as obsolete as those parts in no time at all. To me, a high end system is one that can play new games on their "Ultra" settings at a resolution greater than 1080p.
