550W PSU running 1070 in sli and other upgrades.

I am currently using a gaming pc with a Asus Turbo 1060, 6700k and 16gb of 2400mhz hyperx memory. Christmas is coming up soon and i am interested in upgrading to 1070s in sli and 32gb of 3000mhz trident z ram, i am concerned that my current 550w power supply can not handle a sli setup. Keep in mind that i do not overclock any of my parts.

Ditch SLI, get 1080 Ti, profit.

What 550W PSU do you have?

Depending on what you're doing SLI could definetly be worth it but i'm here to answer your actual question.... It's not enough. I'm running a 1700x CPU with dual 1070's and pulling 570 watts peak from the wall at full load... I wouldn't go any lower than 750 watt PSU, a good one at that.

AMD Ryzen 1700x

ASRock x370 Taichi

Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB GDDR4 3200

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti K|NGP|N

Fractal Meshify C

Samsung Evo 960 Nvme M.2 500gb & WD Blue 1TB

Corsair TX850M Gold

Alienware AW2518H 240Hz Gsync

Audioengine A2+ & Sennheiser HD6xx /w Fiio K5 Pro

Deepcool Captain 240Pro V2

Vortex Race 3 Cherry Mx Red

Corsair Vengeance M65 PRO RGB

There are no 80 PLUS Silver Cougar STX units. I'm guessing it's just a base 80 PLUS unit, meaning that you should absolutely replace that unit now.

Keep in mind, "at the wall" doesn't account for PSU efficiency. My 1700X and 970, both overclocked, draw 369W at the wall under full unrealistic stress load. That means about 330W drawn from my PSU.
