Does your friend's dad have anymore? :) They are mostly used in smaller laptops, netbooks, and some select ASUS Republic of Gamer motherboards that have a riser card with an mSATA slot on it.

Hello guys!

 

I have a quick question, my friend's dad gave me a 256gb mSATA SSD for free and I never knew these existed till today. What are they used for? How do they compare to normal SSD's? Thanks in advance!

they are mini. hence the M. used in slim type laptops where space is valuable.

He works for toshiba so he gets those normally haha, and okay I can see that now. Thanks!
