Samsung CHG90 - Will I really be able to notice the down grade in resolution?

RobDaBoss

I currently have an 27inch ips 144hz 1440p monitor. Im thinking about getting the Samsung CHG90 which is a 49inch 144hz utrawide that runs at a resoltion of 3840x1080. So it has more horizontal pixels but less vertical pixels. Will i notice a downgrade in resolution from 1440p? Is it worth the price? I have a gtx 1080 and moslty game and watch youtube.

Depends how much of a pixel peeper you are.

it won't look nearly as good as your Monitor right now, but if you don't care or are willing to look past the big pixels that the monitor will have, then sure.

Yes, that difference will be very noticeable.

49" 32:9 1080p is exactly as a 2x 27" 16:9 1080p screens so the DPI will be much lower than on a single 27" 1440p despite the horizontal resolution being a lot bigger.

The 16:9 1440p is 108,79 PPI (0,2335 mm Dot Pitch

The 32:9 1080p is 81,41 PPI (0,312 mm Dot Pitch)
