Yes, agreed that the HD6XX is the best can for $200 and lower. I own a number of pretty good cans, and the HD6XX gives a very account of itself even against my other cans.

I already ordered mine before but I figured I'd share the news here! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx/talk Go grab yourself a pair if you have been looking for the "best headphones under $200".

And a three month delivery instead of six. Nice. I can confirm these headphones are great (bought them in the original drop last year that sold out in four hours)

Haha they build them only once the order is complete - its just the way massdrop works. Massdrop collects the orders and then submits the exact number to be built to the vendor. This way the vendor knows exactly how many to make and doesn't end up either running out of needed components for assembly or doesn't end up with excess stock that they don't want sitting around their warehouse. The biggest trade off is that it usually takes a while.

they're not actually made yet, they do a massive order and get all units shipped to massdrop. Sometimes it only takes a month to get items, but in this case it takes longer.

ohahah xP Sorry for that i never order from massdrop since i didn't have a credit card or debit card.

If i want to buy something online i'll have to use my dad's credit card while humbly begging to him and pray that he'll agree.

I wonder when Sennheiser will simply say... "alright... alright... we'll reintroduce the HD6xx lineup".  Re: Massdrop. It's an interesting business model... produce the model in batches and create a buzz about it.  Damn, if my HD515 + HD555 were ever to conk out, I'd replace them. These cans seem to be hyper-overengineered & built. Nice!

I've wondered that myself actually - I wonder if they have established a contract so that these headphones can only be produced and sold in this way - by making it feel "limited" and "exclusive" it definitely bring more attention to it.

To note, this is also usually with the "massdrop exclusive" products, and is not indicative of the entire company as a whole. Many of their products are also purchased in bulk that were pre manufactured, so the more typical wait time for, say, the Massdrop branded Sennheiser PC37x headset ships within five days of the drop ending, because theyre already pre assembled.

Sennheiser discontinued the HD650 (the original version of the 6xx - they're identical aside from colour). But they have a new HD660 (I think) that replaced the HD650.

By continuing to sell the 6xx via Massdrop, only at specific times, they generate buzz and hype and, so far at least, sell out every single time.
