4k yes or no

TheAvPman

I recently made a new computer and I need a new gaming monitor. The question is Is it worth going 4k? Will it be fast enough for high gfx gaming on my 1080ti?

If you want the absolute best of both worlds (image quality vs refresh rate) you should aim at 3440x1440p100hz ultrawide monitor, those are by far the best thing ever when comes down to displays, at least in my opinion.

sharpness wise it is fairly close to 4k, images will look absolutely beautiful on IPS panels while you do feel a lot more difference going from 60hz to 100hz than from 100hz to 144hz for what is worth it.

i went 4k for screen realestate. I wanted more room on my work-space. I'm actually pretty content with gaming at 4k at 72hz, and my GPU lets me do it, or at least get darn close.

i would say that 1440p high refresh or 1440p ultrawide high refresh is the way to go right now

^ this.

Also, if you do decide to go for a 4k monitor, don't buy a 24". That's just a complete waste imo..

I agree that 1440p 144hz is the way to go.

I suggest go for 2560x1440 or 3440x1440 for the moment with at least 100hz refresh rate.

4K just simply not worth it for the moment. Your card definitely no issue running games in 4K but in terms of others spec. 4K is not the time to get yet for gaming purposes.

I had a 4k 60hz IPS panel for about 4 months. Great picture quality but I much prefer my 1440p 144hz IPS g-sync panel. 1440p is sharp enough AND you get the bonuses of high refresh rate and (generally) lower cost.

i Love my 4k Moinitors (Even though its a cheap TN) the clarity is awesome. and a 1080TI will do great just set 4k high and or some games even higher. as long as your fine with 60hz id say 4k is the way to go.

If you want high refresh rates 1440p if you have the money and 100-144hz 16:9 or 21:9

If you want really fast monitor 1080p 144-200hz

Will the monitor screen cut on the edges
