Get a newer i7, alternatively a Ryzen 7. And maybe look at a Samsung SSD instead. Otherwise you're good!

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600WRampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda.

Don't get the 7700K. Either get the 8400, 8600K or 8700K, or a Ryzen.

240mm AiOs are stupid. Either get a decent air cooler for half the price, or a 280mm AiO for a bit more.

Get faster RAM. >2800MHz.

The SL308 costs $10 less than the Adata SSD, and it's fairly decent.

You can get cheaper 1TB HDDs.

Do you really need a DVD player?

Do you really need a Wi-Fi card?

The Corsair SP and AF fans are pretty bad. Why spend so little on the case and PSU, and so much on fans that light up?

:)

Is a 120mm AIO enough to get an 8700k to pretty high speeds.

A good air cooler is better then AIO (think Noctua dh15). It's just a gimmick in my opinion.

The 7700K is pointless. It perfoms similarly to the 8400, and worse than the 8600K in games, and it's significantly worse than the 8700/K and Ryzen in content creation.

Faster RAM impacts performance, usually ~5-10% improvement, depending on the application.

Will a 6700k work?

That works well. You really don't need an i7 for gaming anyways.

120mm AiOs are stupid. Something like a Cryorig H5 will be quieter, cost less and cool better

A decent air cooler will perform better than a bad AiO, irrelevant of overclocks. Either get a decent 280mm AiO (or a custom loop), or get a decent air cooler.
