No and yes, no if the batch numbers of the two 4gb sticks are different and yes it the batch number of the two separate sticks are from the same batch.

But for the VERY high end kits , the ones that push the memory controller, there could be issues . If i want to buy 128GB of RAM , or a ddr4 4600mhz kit for some reason , then there's a likelihood that 2 sticks from different kits might not work together , and in those cases , the sticks are usually tested for compatibility between each other.

No it wont 2x4gb means you get a package with two sticks of 4gb RAM which is the same as 4gb and another 4gb.

I just did the same, except I had 8gb, and now I added another 8. Different brand, different CAS and frequency. Works like a charm after I disabled memory limit in windows 10...
