Great Gamingmonitor = Dell S2417DG ?

Hip
Go to solution Solved by DocSwag,

For the price, it's a very good monitor.

From what I've heard colors and stuff are actually pretty good; better than some IPS panels in fact. Great refresh rate, g sync, 1440p-pairing it with a 1070 is a pretty good choice.

Hey guys

what are your thoughts on the mentioned monitor?

Would you say it's the perfect monitor for gaming?

I'm on the search for a new monitor but would also like to watch movies on it. Is there any option with an IPS panel in this price range around 400 Euro?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi there Hip :)

Well, actually if you're thinking on spend 400$ you could actually aim for a 4K monitor. Which will be the standard in some time.

There's not such as the perfect monitor. You need to have pretty clear what you want and for what you want it for.

If your'e an Esport player and performance is everything for you then you want a 144Hz no matter what leaving the panel or the colors in the last place to make your choice.

Now if youre looking for foutureproofing your rig and having a good image quality maybe you want to aim as I said for a 4K good ips panel. Maybe only in 60HZ though. But is good enough for not competitive people. Even for those paying esports. YOU CAN DO ESPORTS IN 60Hz. Is just the market trying to tell us how magnificient is everything above it, so we open our wallets. And yes there is difference, but don't get obsesed with it ;)

Ask anything else and I will try to help.

Good luck :)

Esports are the only thing where more than 60 HZ matters that much its nice to have in general but there is a reason they have Ed play CSGO when they review high refresh rate monitors.

Mmmm not really. At least in my opinion :)

I notice a LOT OF DIFFERENCE when I play in 100fps. In any game. It's butter smooth at 90+. Meanwhile at 60 I still notice some stuttering.

Anyways,I recomended 60Hz because of the budget issue he has. So as long as 60fps is very very playable, he has a limited budget and he gave a 2K monitor option... Thats why I recomended a good 4K 60Hz :)

I'm playing very random and not o often, but using my pc every day.

So I gues great colours would be good.

UHD Monitors will suck at my rig lol. I have only a GTX 1070.

I would like to get an IPS paneled monitor but the higher refresh time makes the games smooth as hell.

I can't really decide. But I do not know which alternatives I could choose instead.

There aren't any good alternatives to the S2417DG at the same price point. It's a pretty good gaming monitor; I know people who have it and it's absolutely great; go for it.
