Google maps ding no voice (S3)

So trying to use google maps to get to my local airport, i downloaded offline map of my area because this phone has no sim card in it so no data. Instead of getting a voice i only get that chiming ding noise. Is there a way to pre download the voice before leaving the house to get the voice? It'll be a 30-40 minute drive. Device is a Samsung S3
