My Potential Build. Looking for Advice

Hello fellow members of the LTT community. I was hoping for some advice on my build. 

 

This is build will be used for mainly gaming and maybe some recording but no serious editing or streaming etc. I have completed a PCPartPicker list (linked below and was hoping for any alternatives/better options for the build. 

 

I have a budget of about 1100 USD. This is only for the actual computer. I also have a corsair 600W PSU I bought from a friend. 

 

On on a side note if you know of any cheap decent gaming monitors please feel free to link them.

Okay so it seems as if Coffee lake is th way to go. Does it dramatically help with gaming or is it just to have the room to improve without being bottlenecked and to make it a more effective system for longer?

It's pretty much just for the upgrade path I'd say, you do get 2 more cores though so if you do any kind of heavier tasks it will be better.

It helps with gaming. More specifically it makes you have more consistent fps resulting a smoother gameplay.

Also you should note the new i3 8350k is a better version of the i5 you are trying to get. Their really is 0 reason you should buy skylake at this point unless they have a huge discount on it.

While going for Coffee Lake will give you an upgrade path, you're already getting that motherboard for a killer deal. You can overclock the hell out of the CPU and, if you need something more powerful in the future, you can always upgrade to something better WITHIN Skylake. Not to mention it will be way cheaper than Kabylake or Coffee Lake.

 

Another suggestion I have is to get a bigger SSD. With the rig you originally posted, you should have enough headroom to get a 240 or even 480 GB SSD. You're going to love having your heavy games (such as DOOM or GTA V) load fast.

 

Don't get me wrong, the reasons listed above are all great to buy Coffee Lake, and more cores (with per-core performance) will smooth things out further, to a degree. But (at least from what's on my screen) the price of entry into Skylake is way lower than on Kabylake or Coffee Lake and, again, you can always get a new (or used) 6700K or 6800K later down the road. Still your choice though.

Dude you can get a i3 8350k which is the same as the i5 they plan to get for less. On top of that you get a better chipset with more features including Wi-Fi. I mean it is really dumb to get skylake at this point unless it is discounted more than this.
