18 SM = 2304 CUDA cores. It would essentially be a GTX 780 on steroids. 

 

It does sound abit goofy. But the 1070 was 15 SMM/SMX also. So 19 with that shader count does match Nvidia's design of 128 shaders per SM/SMX.

Yes, and you will be able to buy the 1080 Ti just days before the GTX 2080 will come out. Does that mean Nvidia shouldn't release the 2080?

This bullshit of "I get offended when someone gets a better deal than me" and "my computer isn't the best of the best anymore so I feel offended" needs to stop.

 

You should buy the hardware you need, when you need it (assuming it is not soon time for a new generation to launch) and then don't give a damn about what other people are buying. Them buying something should not make you feel bad.

Looks like they just took the laptop 1070 which had more cores then the regular 1070 and made it a desktop GPU you could buy

CPU: 6700K Case: Corsair Air 740 CPU Cooler: H110i GTX Storage: 2x250gb SSD 960gb SSD PSU: Corsair 1200watt GPU: EVGA 1080ti FTW3 RAM: 16gb DDR4 

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.

The laptop only had a few more cores. 2048 vs 1920

This is a massive overreaction from Nvidia and it makes people who bought 1080s instead of 1070s feel bad.

I still feel like shit spending $600 on a 1070.

Don't worry. I'm sure Nvidia will find a reason for it to exist or artificially create a reason.

Yeah they aren't getting into the hands of gamers, but I'd hardly say that AMD isn't selling the things.

Where I live they can and they appear to be a good AU$50 cheaper than most GTX 1070s.

So this could give more options , possibly push down the price the 1070, and gives more performance for that price tier. I will never understand people getting upset at companies offering better options than what they had offered previously. However, this is all rumor and speculation so a lot is left to see.

I'm very worried about AMD their future as it's not going to be any better. Vega flopped big time due to more expensive than the GTX1080

and it's ridicolous TDP. I was waiting for it but it turns out to be crap. So now i'm attempted to upgrade from 780 to 1080Ti.

For now I'll use the 780 one year more or two due to those cancerous prices.
