Coffee Lake only has 2 overclockable cpu's?

So since the sku's dropped something that I though was a misstep on Intel's part is it appears that there are only 2 overclockable sku's in the coffeelake lineup.

Cores/Threads Base clock (GHz) Turbo all cores/one core (GHz) L3 cache TDP Price (EU, inc VAT)
i7-8700K 6/12 3.7 4.3/4.7 12MB 95W €388
i7-8700 6/12 3.2 4.3/4.6 12MB 65W €327
i5-8600 6/6 3.6 4.1/4.3 9MB 95W €273
i5-8400 6/6 2.8 3.8/4 9MB 65W €192
i3-8350K 4/4 4 8MB 91W €189
i3-8300 4/4 4 8MB 65W ?
i3-8100 4/4 4 8MB 65W €123

This struck me as a huge opportunity lost as since all Ryzen sku's are overclockable, Intel has to start meeting them where they are at. It's nice they finally had their hand forced to give us more cores, and initial IPC and multitasking performance improvement look promising, but them not unlocking all their sku's or offering 8 core variants as well shows a lack of foresight to me.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

Meh, overclockable i5s were bad value anyways. You can get an i7 with a B series board for the same amount of money as an i5 K with a Z270 board and the i7 performs better. ;)

More reason to unlock the entire sku, to add that value at every price point.

Profits are insanely huge for Intel being able to over-tax people for that little K on their CPU... not to mention the much more expensive Z chipset.

I am not sure with coffee lake as the core increase has tuned down some the frequencies but Skylake and Kaby Lake overclocking was nothing but a luxury that you didn't really need to get close to the most out of the processors.

I still think the i7 7700 is Kaby Lakes best offering as it gives you almost a full i7 7700k potential for muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch less (no need to aftermarket cooler, no need for Z chipset no need for delid)

Im not a INTEL or AMD fanboy, being a fanboy is like being a certain political party, or seeing things in black and white, its assinine. I used INTEL for 5 years up to Ryzen, because it was the better performance and better value. Now I use Ryzen because its the better value. I hope INTEL takes another hit, if they don't adapt.

No surprise, just a easily missed opportunity.

Intel missed opportunity?

They are company who won't even lower the price of their old cpus, and you want them to have all of their cpus unlock for overclocking?!
