Xbox one S controller compatibility

So im thinking on getting a Xbox One S (or new) controller and i would like to go with the white version since it matches my colour scheme.

Image result for xbox one s white controller

When entering the electronic site of the country im currently in, it says that you can only connect this controller wirelessly (my pc doesnt have bluetooth

and im not interested in a dongle)

I've read and seen on the top of this controller that there is a port for a micro usb cable which allows you to connect it to your pc but i am still not sure

if when connecting the controller to the computer it will just charge the controller or if i will be able to use it to play.

Second thing that is keeping me from making the order is that even though most people say you can just buy a micro usb cable and plug it in, i've read

that there are many types of micro usb cables and one guy said that you will need a type A to B cable to connect the xbox one s controller.

I mean, its clear that there is some port on the top of the controller but i just dont know what type of cable i should get and whether it will just akt like

a charger or if i will be able to play with it

It would be cool if you could check out on whats available.

Anyways, thanks for your time and i hope you can come up with something.

That port is Micro USB and Windows 10 has XB1 controller drivers already installed. It's really nice and simple.

You need a Micro USB to USB A, aka standard phone charging cable.

USB A to USB B - is the proper name for the USB to micro USB cable. And yes it works fine on PC with an XBOX one s controller.

I was under the impression that USB A to USB B was a standard printer cable?

Sorry, yeah it should be USB A to micro B, standard B is the standard device cable for printers and such as you said.

  • 11 months later...

No, that's a µUSB Cable.

But that version of the Controller also supports Bluetooth, so you can use that as well.#

Proof (though kinda pointless. But you can do it!!!111):

PS: I like the smoother, older XBox Controller without Bluetooth Support and the Shiny Thingy around the XBox Button more than the newer, rough one.

But for those you need the XBox One for Windows package...
