Bought 2 of these today, available in store and online, not sure if it's on sale or regular price ... but it's worth it IMO.

It was marked 16GB, only had 200MB in reality before it started corrupting the files. I got it exchanged, and this one was showing up in Windows as 231MB so I returned it. Both with extremely slow speeds.

Reading the thread on RFD and people are posting their drives infos and the controllers and nand flash sources are all over the place ... this is really a hit and miss thing.

Walmart, especially 3rd party sellers are just like Amazon's 3rd party sellers unfortunately. I would suggest going into the store with proof and asking for a replacement 16gb stick instead of your money back, they might just throw you a real stick, but it's not worth your time to go out and do this.

Yeah, they seem legit, hanging there with their packaging and all that

I guess you wouldn't really have any way to know other than that it's some no-name company no one's ever heard of, which really should be a red flag since there are only a few: SanDisk, Samsung, Lexar, Corsair, etc. yeah that's not an extensive list but they're all big names you should immediately recognize.

@Ryan_Vickers to be fair, USBflashinfo does see the nand chips as SanDisk brand, might be why I got ok units?

well those would have to be a real brand unless they were just plastic blocks  Even a "fake"/scam company has to use real flash or it wouldn't work at all, and usually they want it to work just enough to fool you into thinking the 2 GB of cheap flash they actually installed is the 1 TB they've reprogrammed it to claim it is.
