  1. So ive ben able to get PIA up and selective routing setup with firewall aliases. I still cant figure out routing between the 2 subnets. DHCP is giving out DNS address,1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 for the PIABypass subnet, 209.222.18.222 and 209.222.18.218 for the PIATraffic subnet. Gateway and Firewall stuff in the spoiler below I'll just keep looking at guides and plugging in firewall rules......I had routing between subnets working at one point before I did a factory reset lastnight and got the selective VPN routing working.
  2. .................................Window's getting in the way again.....Defender's Firewall was blocking pings from foreign subnets........... SO I can: -Ping everything -move files between subnets -access the internet from subnets -connect to PIA I cant (just getting to this and still reading): -rout thought the "PIA VPN" Connection to the internet (the network 10.10.2.0/24 was renamed to "PIA_NET" diffirentialate between "PIA_VPN") -restrict all internet traffic from the "PIA_NET" through "PIA_VPN"
  3. I did a factory reset and added the 2 extra networks. Gave them DHCP servers, and set pass rules to and from each network: LAN PIA MAN WAN I haven't touched anything else? What should I do next? I can get internet on all LAN's and can ping the other LAN interfaces but I cant ping any clients in the LANs. LAN : CAN reach the internet and ping opnsense MAN and PIA interfaces. CANNOT ping any computer on MAN or PIA MAN : CAN reach the internet and ping opnsense LAN and PIA Interfaces. CANNOT ping any computer on LAN or PI
  4. im going to fire up 3 more unmanned switches to ditch the vlans, and start over from the beginning. If i get things working like i want it, I'll move it to the L3 Switch . Im not completely sure my switch config isnt the problem.
  5. @jj9987 i think that's what he ment by flash, i could be wrong tho. I would just look for a tiny usb 3.0/3.1 flashdrive....... PS Sandisk has been disappointing me with there failure rate lately.......
  6. The 4 pin is good for ~150w, the i3 8100 is only a 65w chip....you could overclock and be fine.

So im trying to set up OPNsense with 3 LANs, a gateway, a vpn, and 4 interfaces. bce0 - WAN : DHCP from cable modem : will soon be upgrading to gigabit internet, currently just 300/75 bce1 - LAN : 10.10.1.1/24 : TV's, Roku's, "Smart" devices, WIFI 1 bce2 - PIA : 10.10.2.1/24 : Servers, Desktops, Laptops, Cell Phones, WIFI 2 bce3 - MAN : 10.10.0.1/24 : Switches, IPMI (ILO, DRAC, BMC), UPCs, Tape Library I
  8. Yeah everything should work fine as long as you use regular ram. Not ecc. Everything by intel that isn't a Xeon is non-ecc. You could put a Xeon in there and use ECC. Non-ecc ram will fit in a ECC board, just took some out of a supermicro X8DAH-+F to replace with 48gb of ECC.

  10. The Gigamon GIGAVUE-2404's are only $75, so I thought it might be a super cheap solution. If its just monitoring then I'll have to look somewhere else. L2 would work, L3 would be better. I currently have a pfSense server as gateway + all the normal router stuff at the top of my rack and a PowerConnect 6248 doing all my switching. The 6248 has 2 dual 10gbe uplink modules that i've been using for my fiber connections. I've come to the point that I need more 10gbe ports. My options are stacking 3 6200's (i have 3 6224's) to get 2 more ports. I would need; (all on ebay) ano
  11. im looking for a 10gbe fiber switch and ebay has some Gigamon GIGAVUE-2404's for really cheap. Are these switches? Or something else? Gigamon's documentation is confusing. I know there "Traffic Visibility Nodes", but can they be configured as a L2 or L3 switch? Ive got about 10x 10gbe fiber connections, I can get away with 8 untill I get a 2nd blade for it.
  12. Im using Ubuntu server. I managed to figure out the DNS. Instead of declaring it in the interfaces file, I declared it in resolved.conf.
