i see some 1060 6gbs here around 400aud [evga's variant] if that helps.

>>on the other hand, if you are thinking of high frame rate 144hz, you'll need a 1080ti no doubt if not disregard this comment<<

welp, there was a sale the other day and bought myself a Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti, guess a monitor  is next, that or a NSG-S0 case from Calyos

I have a 1060 6gb and a 1080p@120hz screen. I feel like i can't upgrade one without the other, and that's bothering me. So I'm asking how well a 1060 will run a 1440p screen, and if i should upgrade the video card first instead.

You will get 80-100FPS at High/Medium in most games.

60FPS at High in most games.

I assume it's 1440p 144Hz?

I'd say get a 1080/1080ti first, so you can enjoy maxing out all the settings and still get good fps.

I'd say get a better card if you want to play 1440p 60hz because you will most likely have to play at medium to get higher than 60 FPS (In most modern games)

A 1060 is enough to who doesn't mind compromising quality, as stated forget about ultras and such but you should be capable of running any game regardless.

Why should you be bothered? If you feel that when you upgrade one then you should upgrade the other also that means that you made a really good buy in the first place :) And to be honest - why do you want to upgrade? I wouldn't feel that need personally unless my monitor is way far from my head. Also you can try side-grading to ultrawide 1080p like the ones from lg.

I'm probably going with the {GIGABYTE AORUS XTREME GeForce GTX 1060 6G REV 2.0}. It's kind of costly for me but that's as much as I am willing to spend on a GPU. $100 less than my Aorus mobo. Not sure if it's really good for gaming on my 4k 120 Hz TV or just gaming period. Amy opinions? Will it be enough?

Whether or not it's "enough" will depend largely on the games you play and the settings you hope to play them at. There's no reason why you can't hit 60 FPS at 4k with a 1060 as long as you cut corners that need to be cut. But just a FYI, odds are your TV is 60Hz with interpolation. Some 4k TVs can be OC'd to true 100-120Hz at 1080p, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Should be fine I would recommend buying a high hz monitor if you plan on upgrading your gpu tho unless you plan on getting 2 1440p monitors.

should be able to game but I would pick up something not 4k because even CS GO might not run at 120 hz but AT 1440p or 1080p or lower it should work Very well.

Also it is a very nice looking pc nerdgasm worthy lol

I still need rgb memory, another m.2, water cooling, tempered glass kit, rgb mono block. The video card is my next big buy. Aorus 1080ti would be great but cost so much money

But the rgb memory, another m.2, water cooling, tempered glass kit, and rgb mono block doesn't?

I get the importance of aesthetics, but c'mon. All that above is going to cost as much, if not more than a 1080 Ti. If it comes down to either or, performance should be the forerunner.

If you know what Graphic settings are, and how they work, you can make it work without problems.

Not on Ultra, but on High. Or some single settings oN medium, if they draw too much Performance.

I had a  GTX 1060 MSI Gaming X for my 1080p / 60 Hz screen, and upgraded to 1440p /( 165 Hz / G-Sync. It worked just fine, just find your settings so you get enough fps FOR YOU.

I upgraded to GTX 1080 anyway tho.. But i wanted those high fps in those Games.

If you get a 1440p / 60 Hz screen, you don't really need to upgrade. Just reduce a few settings untill you have a 60 fps lock. That's it

And upgrade your GPU in 2-3 years or so ^^ Or 1 year with Volta, if there's an interesting offering.

with 1070 just doing 1440p 60fps avg fine on most benchmarks at ultra i wouldn't bank 1060 doing ultra that well at all... maybe medium or high is better in compromise of quality for smooth frame rate

high/ultra settings is more viable for the higher end cards imo, these cards just {get u to gaming} without the bells n whistles. as far as i can see
