Is 16GB worth it?

Hey guys, I was wondering if I should buy an extra 8GB of RAM for my PC, I use it for gaming and basic stuff such as watching series, videos ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and browsing. I would still upgrade my GPU, and I'm asking this because I can probably get it pretty cheap on a couple Facebook classifieds groups (a few days ago, I saw a GTX 780Ti being sold for £50). My specs are in my signature.

Unless you don't get much above a usage of 6 gigs.

I would go for the GPU unless you are actually notice a bottle neck because of your 8GB ram, Just gaming and light other tasks will prob not use 8GB of ram so you are most likely fine.

If you answer yes to any of these, then it's probably worth it:

• Are you constantly running out of free RAM space?
• Do you really want those programs up and you don't want to close any of them to free up RAM?

Thanks mate, I'll only be upgrading in about a month or so, so, depending on my budget, maybe I'll get both.

The first one is a no, but the second one is definitely yes.

am i in actiual need of more RAM?

and then if yes:

is there shit i can close to not need to spend money?

if no then you buy more RAM.

if yes you close some shit

 

the GPU will bring your FPS up more then the RAM.

Thanks mate. As I said above, I'm not upgrading right now, so, when the time comes, depending on my budget, I might get both, or maybe not, we'll see.

depends on the games you play. more and more games consider 8gb the bare minimum. 

 

if you have the budget to get another 8gb without compromising other upgrades -> go for it. 

 

if you would have to skimp on the GPU to squeeze the ram into your budget -> not worth it

I probably wouldn't be compromising the GPU upgrade, because, as I said, people sell stuff there for ridiculously low prices, just like the £50 GTX 780Ti.

then i see no reason not to upgrade to 16 gigs.

 

like i said: more and more games consider 8gb the bare minimum. especially open world and sandbox games just LOVE to eat up as much ram as possible in my experience.
