i3 6100 noisy stock cooler

Hi. I have an i3 6100 and the stock cooler is loud when I play games (especially Farcry 3) . Sometimes it is loud when I use the internet.Temperatures are fine ( idle 30-35 , under load 60-67 ) . cpu fan speed in bios is set to "normal" (on silent i get high temperatures).

My friend has a i5 3570k and his stock cooler is way more quieter.How is it possible ?  Are intel coolers different ? When yes I would like to know how to buy the right one . Buying an aftermarket cooler is not the option for me.

Intel made many different versions of the stock cooler over the years. They have been getting thinner with recent generations. Some have a copper slug in the middle, but the one with my 6100 is all aluminum which will also affect performance. You should be able to reuse any socket 115x cooler if you can find one better than your current one.

 

3rd party coolers can improve things a lot and don't have to cost a lot.

You know buying off Intel stock coolers kinda costs as much as a low end decent aftermarket one and it'll suck just the same, get something like the CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 or simply don't get any thing at all.

 

And yes the i5 3570k stock cooler had copper base and all it was much superior to the Skylake stock cooling, which got cheapen out to the bones, but then again this is Intel and they cheapen up even on critical components just save a few bits they don't need.

I would just recommend buying an aftermarket cooler such as the cooler master hyper 2 12 evo.

cooler master hyper 212 evo is big for my case .

Have you tried making custom fan curve for fan? Temps aren't nowhere near warning limits, you could go good 10-15C up in temps and possibly limit fans speed to 80%.
