Pokemon GO goes no where at the first Pokemone GO fest

This is not purely Niantic's fault. The server issue were probably from users connecting half way or retrying non-stop due to a shit data signal.

This is mostly the carriers as network congestion was too much not only for the people at the event, but people in the area trying to use data as well. And to the people saying "well niantic should of worked with the carriers or added their own wireless", this was still a big event with 20k people. There is still a main weakness of WIFI and 4G, time slots. Wifi would of helped but would of been clogged just as fast but there really isnt much they could have done to make this better other than spread it out.

it kinda is tho.

niantic couldnt expect that people, at their con, want to play their game.

stuff like that can be easily fixed, even the signal can be improved by just renting a temp gsm antenna for the event (even free if you have ISPs with a brain).

You still dont understand that wireless is the limitation. Signal wasnt the problem, the problem was every channel and time spot was being used because there were so many people.

What would that take though? Like in terms of networking over WiFi in the event area, plus GPS.

I honestly don't know, but regardless it can't be the players fault.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Nope the players made the server crash so it's a little of both faults

Niantic knows how mamy people are interested in their game and how up and down their playerbase goes. There should be plenty of server amount to handle millions. In case there wasnt it is purely Niantics fault for not preparing for such large playerbase.

Once again the servers were not the issue. People really need to look up wireless congestion.

Man I dunno what everyone is complaining about. It was the absolute best Spoofer Fest. Legendaries everywhere! Niantic did a great job!

I'm gonna say something that I'm sure a million people have said before, but I'll say it again. I don't get why Pokemon Go is such a big deal anyway. It's boring as fuck. It's a pokemon game where you can't battle. WHY???? I have little cousins who never gave a shit about pokemon and they've been playing Go just because it's popular and they're just eating it up. I asked them why they don't play a real Pokemon game instead and they just started at me funny.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not a pokemon fan at all, but if you're gonna play pokemon, PLAY POKEMON.

Yeah tried it for the first month or two, haven't opened it ever since, really boring, specially if you don't live in one of the major cities or you work outside of the cities, bacame even worse when they stopped letting you catch pokemon while in a car or bus. Went back to ORAS, planning to get SM with a newXL eventually, but yeah, GO has been the worst pokemon iteration for me currently, the PokeWalker with SSHG was 1000 times more fun than this

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

As i said, first two months, might have had it later, but i'm already out so no reason for me to go back either way, unless they've improved the combat system beyond tap and long tap and not have to grind 1000+ magikarps just to get gyarados even if magikarp>gyarados

Ironically the issue seems to have been mobile providers behaving exactly like the cynics in this thread. Niantic told the mobile providers how much traffic they expected to see. The mobile providers then said "sure, we can handle it. It's not like anyone plays Pokemon Go anymore anyways". Then the crap hits the fan and everyone blames Niantic.

I'm surprised people still play it, I've uninstalled forever ago out of boredom. For those who are into the main series, there is nothing for us in Pokemon Go. Most of the time was spent grinding Pidgey into candy.

Like, the core of Pokemon mechanics just aren't there. No breeding, no EV training, no strategy with movesets to catch an opponent off guard..just tons of commons and throwing money at Google for Pokeballs.
