Amazon UK is reducing the orders of SNES Classic to 1 per order

It appears that popularity is such that people are even having consoles they bought taken off them. Fans are reporting online that they have received emails from Amazon saying that they can only buy one console each – and so orders that included more than one will be reduced to just one.

The emails say there has been a "a change to the availability of this item" and that it has been adjusted to include just one unit. "We understand this isn't what you expected when you placed your order and apologise for the inconvenience," the email concludes.

This is probably to curb scalpers. But really, why would you order more than one per "household"? The only reason I can think of are friends who are buying for other friends.

Though I am wondering how else they're tracking it. If they're not tracking by shipping address or payment method, there's nothing stopping someone from making a bunch of burner accounts to effectively hoard them.

It's supposed to be £69.99

What's really upsetting are those from eBay selling "guaranteed pre-orders". i.e., "I'm not an actually a retailer of this product, but I have a pre-order"

I can think of a reason to buy multiple per household: you living with a roommate and you two both wanting one.

I know people back in the day that would buy 10 iPhones on launch and quickly sell them for huge profits. So I'm not surprised Amazon is finally trying something like this to stop these desired products from getting into the hands of those who just want to make a quick buck. That being said, people are going to find a loophole in the system soon.

Why aren't you both getting one separately?

I would be assuming they tracked per shipping address. Otherwise it would also be just kinda convenient to get two of them at one time, instead of maybe even two shipping dates.

Also, not sure how shipping is, but if it's not free shipping, you save a bit (although I doubt it is not free shipping).

Either way, these cases are rare and unfortunately are the casualty with this policy.

So does anybody knows if the price is expected to come back to normal range or is it gonna be like the last time with the mini NES?

Well, since it's in pre-order, the price from official retailers probably never budged from the MSRP. It's the third-party retailers that are jacking up the prices.

They'll probably keep the jacked-up prices because you know, someone will buy it.

Hmm, I see. Well, that someone won't be me, I'd love to have one but to be realistic I wouldn't use it enough to justify the price. But I see how they're gonna sell everything in a blink.
