Is Amazon legally allowed to sell returned items that have been used/opened as "new"

well i jsut orded an samsung SSD 250 gb from amzone the seller is amzone

 

it was used the box was opend and the install guyd had some hand writng it works but i am so pised at them and i am checking the ssd with recovery apps to see what was it used on 

 

it turns out it was used as a external SSD

and damn its full of stuf and personal stuff !!

hes a amazone worker 

damn 100 gb worth of stuff

He thought he was smart. It would have worked because a regular customer is not tech savvy.

Whether or not it's legal will depend on the country. In some it might be perfectly fine to do that with products. I know in Canada, it's not. It does however result in massive amounts of waste. I like Amazon's warehouse scheme, where you can get discounts for packaging that is less than perfect, or open boxed items.

IMO it's fine as long as it's essentially brand new. Perfectly functional, physically perfect condition, etc. Otherwise sell as a refurb. Not doing that seems like it would create a lot of waste.

Actually there is no law prohibiting it and no one to check after sellers wether the item was used before or not, so some sellers might put the item in a new package and calling it good.

i have contacked amazone thy gave me 30% refund 

 

the ssd was shiped over sea it took more than a week for it to arive i am happy for the refund

Amazon pays for return shipping unless you used a forwarding company. But hey I guess it works.
