Mining Eth with AC

My linux destop runs my rx 480 and I never really game that much on my desktop so I am always running the miner. Hasn't really been an issue until summer came. My landlord provides a window ac unit that looks kinda old. About a medium sized unit. Can I still make a profit off the card even with having to run ac to keep the room cool? My power here is about $0.11663 per kWh

Take your power bill and subtract your profit, it will probably be negative.

I am thinking more like getting some dryer vent hose one for intake and one for exhaust. I am too short on money to do whole room water cooling.

I can turn a profit on my RX 480 even at $0.28+ per KWh so you should be fine.

 

But instead of running that AC unit, make a one-time investment on a beefy GPU cooler like an AIO or an Arctic Accelero Extreme IV. It's $50 and you can reuse it once you upgrade GPUs etc.

And as sad as it is to say it's more profitable to mine on a single RX 480 in my country than to work minimum wage. Ouch.

Not actually paying that much unless I exceed 2MWh in the month but I ran the tests anyway and look at that, 250% return on investment.

Right now 1 Ethereum takes around 700TH (Trillion Hashes) and is worth $388 (and rising).

Actually I think RX 480s are better than 580s for mining because core clocks don't matter nearly as much as memory speed and timings and on the other hand power consumption is arguably the most important parameter.

 

But you can grab a 580 and undervolt the shit out of it so it probably consumes less power at 1266MHz than a 480, refined node and all. So they're probably about the same and better if you're a tweaker.

 

We need Vega already, I want to mine moar hashes for my power.

RX 480 4GBs have been $190 for a while now

 

Though you'd prefer 480 8GBs for the task because of the additional memory speed. I got mine for $280, ow! But GPU prices over here are stupid.
