Have you scanned your computer with something like Malwarebytes? Potentially dangerous malware might make such thing happen. Also, if your PC is running Windows 10, always make sure that Windows Defender is up to date.

Also make sure you have CCleaner installed so that you can clean temp files in a secure way.

  • AMD Piledriver FX-6350 Six Core 3.90GHz Processor
  • 1TB Hard Drive

  • NVIDIA GTX 960 2GB DDR5
  • Corsair SPEC-03 Blue LED Gaming PC Case
  • 450W Power Supply
  • Gigabyte AMD760G Chipset Motherboard

New Rig:

  • Intel core I5-6600K 3.5GHz Processor
  • 1TB HDD

I'll try all these.  Defender is always up to date and scans quite often, but I'll still double check to be sure.

I have had windows explorer memory leaks on all of my Windows 10 systems in the last 3 weeks, with over 20GB RAM used by windows explorer. Restarting the task fixed the issue. Other common windows related memory leaks are svchost.exe, or it could be malware. If it is a windows process that is causing the problem restarting the PC does not resolve the issue, then reinstalling windows is often the best long term solution.

Sometimes the problematic processes do not show in the task manager process tab, but should show in the resource monitor.

Go to the "Performance" tab, select "Memory", and look for "Non paged pool" in the lower parts. If that's accounting for your RAM usage, you most likely have a leaky driver. And it's probably the network one.

10.7 GB non-paged pool........

Yeah, Killer stuff has been known to leak memory. So I propose two COAs:
