Looking for the best 1080p gpu

Thunder Squirrel

I'm building a gaming pc with a Ryzen 5 1600 and I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on a gpu. I want to play all current games at 1080p at high to ultra settings for around 250 dollars max.

The cards that I'm considering the most are...

-AMD RX 570 (Though they are out of stock everywhere)

-AMD RX 480

-GTX 1060

So what card do you think is best for me? (Also, I'm not sure about how much v ram I need.)

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I think that you mean the 1060 by the "GTX 1080", and that would be the one I would recommend.

Also, get at least 4 GBs of VRAM, preferably more.

im going to assume you meant 1060 and not 1080? a 1080 is way overkill.

the 480 would be the sweet spot.

480 4gb or 8gb?

And 1060 6 or 3 gb?

For the 1060, the EVGA superclocked 6gb. (Single fan) Around 250.

For the RX 570, the ASUS ROG overclocked 4gb. (I cant find this card in stock anywhere.) Around 190

Not so sure about the RX 580.

1060 6GB OCV1 is $215 at Newegg now, get that over the SC card.

Yea that's a good option. Is there even any benefit to getting the overclocked card?

SC has good cooling for the core but bad VRM cooling.

If you still want an EVGA card there's a refurbished SSC card for $220 on Newegg

idk

Alright well I think that settles the 1060, but what about amd? They have cheaper prices so that's why I haven't gone straight for the 1060. I found a great deal on the ASUS RX 570 but its so difficult to find it in stock. Does anyone know anything about the stocking issues with amd's cards?

I've started to recommend 1060 over AMD cards due to the shortage of stock.

The shortage is due to Ethereum and other Cryptocoin miners buying 470/570/480/580 cards to mine.

These cards are faster than the 1060 in compute performance, so they are a good buy

idk

Ah I see. Well than in that case ill probably get the 1060 but ill keep my eye out for the amd cards as well. This has all been very helpful, thank you.

It's sold out, and the only reason it's that cheap is because of a MIR.

get the zotac AMP! 1060 6g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I5O5AP2/?tag=pcpapi-20

If you're playing BF1 4GB of VRAM should be enough, i think I like that RX 570 if available and get the Gaming X type.

Now RX 480 vs GTX 1060, read @Megah3rtz's signature to know the conclusion

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later
