You guys didn't do power consumption testing this time?

Why no DOOM Vulkan or DX12 title for the more modern GPUs?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Would have personally preferred to compared mid-range graphics cards, graphics cards that people actually can afford.

I dream of a website where people can upload honest benchmarks so that we can compare hardware ourself with filters without watching a video or buying all the hardware and benchmarking it ourself which take times

Yes, there were mobile chips with 800-series naming scheme. But in the context of this video (specifically talking about desktop flagship cards), Nvidia did entirely skip over 800 series.

Of course, just thought it could do with a mention similar to the 300 series.

they were all laptop parts.. and honestly.. it's a rare sight seeing 800 series laptops around because they appareantly were super unreliable (all laptops i've seen die when those hit shelves were 800 series GPU laptops, and i've seen a lot of them go by that year..) and were hot as all freaking hell, especially compared to the 900 series that replaced them the year after, and basicly kicked them off the market right away.

Fair enough, I never used any myself.

Good lord, I never knew that, the die size difference.

Except that's an IHS on the GTX 580.

Is that GTX 680 Classified the one with the EVBot connector?

Last year I had to RMA my EVGA GTX 480 and cause of there warranty they sent me a GTX 960. That was a sweet deal since it was, what, 5-6 years later. It was probably the easiest RMA I've done and it was only a week turn around. That GTX 960 stomps all over that GTX 480 in so many ways, I was really happy with the exchange ( thought it would have really been kick ass if they sent me a GTX 980 ) :)

Awesome tech porn right here, Great over all. I can't believe people are still nostalgic about the old B.S. videos. the thumbnail is also improved, and no clickbait!! It's great to see how much things changed up since the 8880, but the improvements all together kind of make it seem like a scam going from 980ti to a 1080

I think that a 780 is still a really powerful card if you play games at 1080p.

I might be wrong though.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Can anyone name all the cards they have used and still have? Here's my line up since 2002.

Ti 4200

FX 5700 Ultra

7600 GTS

7800 GTX

8400 GS (using)

8800 GTS

8800 GT

3 9800 GTX+ (I had only 1 9800 GTX+ and still have 2 of the non plus)

GTX 480

2 GTX 680 (still have them and currently using 1)

GTX 960 (using)

GTX 1080 (using)

6600 GT(i think) - first computer back in '03

AMD APU - laptop i got in 2013

GTX 750TI - first gameing rig, got scammed on a prebuilt

GTX 970(using) - as recomended by the nice people of this forum in 2015, still awesome

8800 GT - for the LAN PC 1.0

2 GTX 660s for the LAN PC 2.0

R9 270x - planed to use for LAN PC, was broken

R9 280x - same as above

FX 5500(sortof using) - Toaster Project PC came with this one, perfect for playing NSFU2

got them in that order too, going to either get a Vega card or a 1080TI after the summer, and that way il have one hell of a machine to play Paladins and OSU! xD because who dosent need a card capable of playing AAA games at 4k for playing esports games at 1440p lol. actiually my 970 dosent get a solid 250fps in Paladins maxed out anymore becuase i havent redone its overclocking, wont even do it if i remove the 8x MSAA :( LoRez screw the FPS with every update...

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

do 10 years of integrated graphics for intel and amd (include apus)

well... the AMD APUs are not THAT shit tbh, not good, but i was rocking one in my laptop for quite a while and it was running circles around my god damn 750TI with power problems and FX 6300 lol only reason that i stoped using that laptop was that the battery died and the chargeing port dosent really work

i would absolutly love if someone just went through all the mid to high end cards released from both teams the last few years, benchmarked them all in about 10 titles and 5 benchmarks, just so we could have somewhere solid to look at gameing preformance of cards that pop up on the used market. that would be insaine amounts of work but if done as a team effort it could be done probably, if anyone assembles such an efford i would gladly chip in for what i can. we have userbenchmark that sortof does this but that benchmark isnt the greatest and id love to see a wider spectrum of games and benchmarks to really get deep into comparason.
