the best i7 that is not waste of money?

i use my cpu for physics simulation and rendering so i need something good, but linus always says that it's +300 pounds for that extra little preformence is waste of money, so which one is the "sweet spot"?  which one is the best; but not over priced? no i5(s) please, i'm ussing one and it's not good enough....

Not all i5's are the same. Same goes for i7's.

Just because the one you are using is not doing well doesn't mean other i5's will do the same.

 

That being said, a 4770k should be good for some decent simulations.

4770K, 4820K if you want extra RAM and PCI-e lanes, but X79 boards are much more pricy.

either 4770k or if you want to go extreme the 4930k.

4 cores is 4770k, anything more is 4930k

what i5 are you using that isnt good enough?

Either a 3770k or a 4770k.

 

If you are running something like a 3570k and it's not enough then an 4770k won't be that mutch better.

 

The 3570k is an i5 but we know what you mean ^^

4770k 4 core  or 6 core 4930k.

The Asus UX305 has an Almighty Intel core M-5Y10 0.8GHZ, GPU Intel HD 5300 Windforce, SDD 120GB, Passively Cooled, 1920x1080 Matte Screen, An Fantastic ICEpower Audio Making my House Shake and Having more ports then a MacBook btw this not an advertisement.

Dude he is running an i5 atm. And it may be an ivy-bride cpu. And the upgrade from a 3rd gen i5 to a 4.th gen i7 is not that significant.

4770K i would say , If you really need the 2 extra cores and more PCIe Lanes i suggest you go with 4930K.

ill just chuck this in there. the 3820 is pretty badass. and it wasnt tat bad priced eighter. i havent ran any simulations but so far its never let me down.

4770k, or for gaming just go for a 4670k

The 4820k because it costs less than the 4770k and offers you the 2011 platform.

4770K, 4820K and 4930K are all great choices
