Ryzen R7 1700

i would go with a r7 or r5 chip depending on budget. they give really good performance per dollar compared to intel and have amazing rendering and editing capabilities.

For gaming it comes mainly down to the single core performance, i7-7700k offers some of the highest single core performance, also if you do not care about spending then for sure get the ryzen 7 1800x it has way more cores and performs about the same except when running high end games that focus more on multi core performance.

 

ryzen 7 1800x also can handle more tasks on applications as well.

I would go with 2x or 4x Xeon E5-2699 V4's. These will definitely give you enough performance in any task you need to run on a dual or quad socket motherboard.

it has better performance across the board. that being said it better have be outperforming across the board at 1700 dollars
